Mid-Week Messenger

Greetings Everyone

Summer is here and we all have graduations, vacation plans, camping, hiking, bbq parties, fishing, and many more reasons to enjoy the out door life in the beautiful state of Montana. While there are many activities going on in life, I want to share a few things in order to keep you informed of what is happening at the church over the summer.

First, this Sunday we will begin our new sermon series going through the book of Proverbs. Perhaps you have read through Proverbs, or maybe you even have a favorite specific verse, or maybe you’ve never heard of the book. The Old Testament book of Proverbs is important in the life of a Christian because it gives us divine wisdom worked out in human experience. You see the Bible does not offer answers to every specific situation we might face in life like; how to choose a career, partner, raise adult children, handle specific bosses or employees . Yet, we often face situations in our day to day lives where we have to make  decisions, and the Biblical command we may have does not really fit in our circumstances. Insert the book of Proverbs which encourages us to seek and grow in wisdom by meditating on the proverbial statements it gives us. I have heard it put like this; the book of Proverbs is like a hard candy, you would not immediately chomp down on it, nor would you swallow the candy right away. Rather, you would suck on it in order to savor the flavor, in order to draw out the goodness. God gives us the book of Proverbs to apply the principles we find in situations that are full of nuance. Put another way, unlike direct commands from the prophets, “Thus says the Lord”, the wisdom found in Proverbs is more pastoral, “As we live this life in light of God, these are the things we find to be consistently true.” My prayer is that the Holy Spirit would use this summer to grow you in discernment, wisdom, and Godliness through the study of the Fathers wisdom for us.

Second, we have a wonderful new ministry initiative of serving our community through providing lunch for students 18 and under on Wednesday’s at 12:00. We see this as a way to invest with the lives of students and families in Whitefish, by providing them a meal, which many would otherwise get through the school, and as a way of providing a safe place for students to meet during the week. If you would like to participate by providing food or by serving food, please contact Nichole or myself, or you can see the attached announcement.

Third, with our switch to the 9:00 a.m. time slot for worship this summer, we have decided to continue on our study of the book of Revelation on Thursday the 12th, at 10:00 a.m. If that time does not work for you please contact Rev. Ben Melli.

Fourth, we have our brunch this Sunday after worship in the fellowship hall to help ease us into our time change. Please join us, especially if you are new, to get to know some other people in the church as we participate in the community of the church as well as its worship.

Free Summer Lunches for Youth at FPC

Join the Fun!

This summer, FPC is thrilled to offer free lunches for all youth ages 18 and under every Wednesday! Bring your appetite and your friends — we’ll be serving up delicious meals in Fellowship Hall from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m., and the Youth Room will stay open until 2:00 p.m. for extra fun and fellowship.

We’re creating a welcoming, Christ-centered space where kids and teens can enjoy nourishing food, great company, and uplifting activities — all at no cost!

But we can’t do it without YOU!  We’re looking for helping hands to:

  • Prepare and serve meals from a set menu
  • Whip up tasty desserts
  • Hang flyers and spread the word

Want to be part of this awesome outreach? Connect with Nichole or sign up in Fellowship Hall today. Let’s make this summer unforgettable for our youth!

Monthly Highlights From The Session

  • New Doors

Please do not use the new doors on Central Ave. We are waiting for hardware to be installed.  The door to the right of the main Sanctuary doors will be open for Sunday service.

  • Memorial Committee

We are currently seeking members to serve on the Memorial Committee. This important group is responsible for overseeing funds donated in memory of loved ones and helping to determine meaningful projects or items these gifts can support. If you are interested in serving or would like more information, please contact Leslee Washer.

  • Church Sign Update

Our outdoor sign has experienced significant wear and tear over the decades, along with recent damage to the glass. While we’ve gratefully received several generous offers to help cover the cost of repairs, the situation is more complex than just replacing the glass.

The brick structure remains sound, but the entire interior of the sign—including the electrical system—needs to be redone. After months of searching, we have successfully located the power source, and we are now in the process of gathering bids to update the electrical and fully restore the inner workings of the sign.

Thank you for your continued patience and support as we work toward a thoughtful and lasting solutio

  • New Summer Service Start Time

Starting June 8th we will be meeting for worship service at 9:00 a.m.
