Greetings Everyone
Hello all,
This Sunday is traditionally the beginning of Holy Week. We start off with a celebration often called, “Palm Sunday”. Why the name? What is the story? Mark 11, Matthew 21, Luke 19, John 12, all record the story of the entry of Jesus into the city of Jerusalem. These stories contain; Jesus telling the disciples to get him a colt, or donkey, the riding into the city with people waiving palm branches and laying down clothing beneath the donkey, and Jesus entering the temple. The story is used as the introduction of the final weeks of Jesus in his earthly ministry. In a sense the King has entered the final minutes of His mission. The people surrounding Jesus had all different expectations when Jesus entered into Jerusalem, but Jesus had one focus, to journey to the cross.
Please come this Sunday prepared to focus your hearts on the journey to the cross as well. Jesus led the way to the cross, and invites us to die to ourselves so that we might live for Him and in this way attain life everlasting. We will have palm branches and our kids will help us celebrate the Kings arrival to calvary. Please arrive a few minutes early if you’d like to participate as the kids will meet with Rose in the fellowship hall to go over the details.
