Greetings Everyone
This past Sunday I introduced the theme we will be working with during the summer, “Scriptural Truths in the Code of the West.” Montana played a large role in the Western expansion of our country. As with most times of growth and expansion, there were good parts and some bad parts. But expand we did with Montana becoming the 41st state in 1889.
The cowboy culture was part of that expansion, especially in the early years of the open range, 1865 to 1887. During this period there were no fences and little law enforcement. If the settlers were going to survive and different ranchers were going to coexist rules of behavior had to be ironed out. Thus was born The Code of the West. It was not etched in stone like the biblical Ten Commandments, but it did give guidance to those seeking to inhabit this Big Sky Country.
Simply put, the Code of the West is as follows (organized by the topics as I will be addressing them this summer):
Live Each Day with Courage
Take Pride in Your Work
Somethings Aren’t for Sale
Do What has to be Done
Know Where to Draw the Line
Be Tough but Fair
Always Finish What You Start
Always Keep Your Promises
Ride for the Brand
Talk Less…Say More
Believe it or not, each of these elements within the code are an expression of truths within the scriptures. The goal is to learn together, laugh together, and grow closer to our Lord as we remember some of the relational agreements that shaped this area we call home.
Happy Trails to You
Pastor Paul
Church Community Garden!
Jesse Fraser and Karen Rosenburg have come up with a new, exciting idea for the corner flower bed. We’re calling it, A Church Community Garden. In other words, everyone please bring something to share and Jesse will plant it for you. We are looking for perennials or annuals, as long as they do not require full shade. They do not have to be a flower either. They can be herbs, ground cover, a strawberry plant, etc. Use your imagination! 🌸🌼🌺 If you have questions contact Jesse Fraser or me, Karen Rosenberg (406-250-0232). Before you bring it, pray over your plant that it will be protected from the deer!
Thank You,
Jesse & Karen

Church Information Class
Sunday, June 25 following church, there will be a Church Information Class. This class will provide some background on the origins of the Presbyterian Church, a review of its central beliefs, a look at how a Presbyterian Church organizes to do the work of the Lord and a look at our local congregation, its vision and mission. This class, although focusing on information, is also a great step toward membership in this church, making this “officially” your church home.
Please let the church office know if you are planning on attending so the proper amount of materials can be prepared. Also, if you need assistance with child care, please let the office know as well
