Greetings Everyone

Greetings everyone.

ANNOUNCEMENTS!!

I have a love…hate relationship with announcements, especially when they come on Sunday morning. We come to church to worship the Lord, to refocus our easily distracted lives on Him. Yet, we must let people know what is going on, especially at the one time when most of our regular attending folks are gathered together. I am so glad our church has determined to do the announcements at the beginning of our time of worship so once announcements are completed we can focus our hearts and minds on the Lord. Announcements.

Even though announcements can be a distraction from what is important, they can also highlight somethings that are very important. This morning on the news an announcement was made by Toyota about a recall of their vehicles because of a safety issue. It was a way (they will also send out letters) to get people’s attention so corrections can be made to the vehicles thus continuing their good safety record. Announcements.

Another positive use of announcements is they provide a means to share great news with many people. We are awaiting a “Save the Date,” announcement of an upcoming wedding. I remember the wonderful announcement we received with the good news about our impending arrival of our first grandchild. Announcements.

The coming of Jesus into our world was preceded by the announcements of the angels.

“Do not be afraid, for see — I am bringing you good news of great joy for all the people; to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is the Messiah, the Lord.” Luke 2:10-11

What an announcement and how we still need to hear this Good News today. Jesus’ coming into our world is great news. God has not forgotten us. God has placed the Christmas present of his love and grace under the tree of every person in the world and if we would accept that gift, unwrap it, and let it into our lives we would be changed forever. What an announcement.

My prayer for you and me and our world this year is that we will hear this joyful announcement and receive God’s gift into our lives once again. Merry Christmas everyone and may we have a Christ-filled New Year.

Pastor Paul

PS. Since I will not be writing a Midweek Message for next week, I also want to make a couple of announcements that will take place on January 7th.

Adult Bible Study at 9 AM. We will begin an in-depth study of the Book of Romans. Romans is the most complete statement on the core beliefs of Christian faith. Written to the heart of the Roman Empire, the Apostle Paul took great lengths to address the specifics of what we believe and why. Please put this important study on your calendar.

New Members Class will take place following worship on the 7th from 11:30 to 1:00 PM. We will cover some of the basics of the history of the Presbyterian Church, what Presbyterians believe, how they organize, and the specifics of our particular congregation. If you plan to attend, please let the office know so we can prepare materials for you.

Presbyterian Women

The afternoon Presbyterian Women Christmas party was filled with songs played by Alma, Christmas stories shared by the 24 guests, gifts created by Jean Peterson and given to each guest to take home, beautifully decorated tables, delicious desserts of mini red velvet bundt cakes and peppermint ice cream and fellowship and joy shared by all. Merri shared a Christmas story reminding us to bring Jesus into our daily lives and giving us bookmarks . Our thanks to Pastor Paul for attending the party and Merri and Susan for cohosting. May the true meaning of Christmas fill your life with love. 😍

Our Church Youth Program – Making a Difference Together!

Thank you to everyone in our community who has prayed for our youth ministry! What a wonderful start we have experienced with so many amazing young people who have energy galore and vibrant souls for the Lord!
Many thanks to our adult volunteers, Tina Colstad, Travis Walton, Ashley Bennett, Nichole Grant, Judy Smith, Dusty Otis, and Kristine Manuel. And thank you to our chief cook Leslee Washer and head cookie baker, Linda Nelson!
Coming up in 2024, we will meet on the first and third Wednesdays of every month. We are looking forward to more kids, more fun, and more Jesus in our lives!
Be on the lookout for some pop-up fun during Christmas vacation!
If you would like to help in anyway, with this new ministry program, all that is required is a love for kids, and a love for Jesus.
Blessings,
Shelle Kuntz
