Greetings Everyone
Greetings to you all in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ!
Thank you all for a wonderful first Sunday as the pastor at FPC. Two people came up to me afterwards and said that the service seemed very comfortable, not at all like someone’s first time leading worship. From my perspective, I would say the same thing about my entire first week at Whitefish. I already feel at home here and at ease. FPC excels at being a welcoming community.
I do still need some help with names. It is especially difficult for me to remember names after Sunday morning. Please continue to help me by introducing yourself by name and being patient with me. I would like to repeat my offer to have lunch or coffee with each one of you sometime during the week, so that I can get to know you all better. And thank you to everyone who has already taken me up on this offer.
This Sunday should be a busy one at FPC. At nine o’clock the Romans Bible Study will pick up again. I will try to do my best imitation of Pastor Paul as we continue through Paul’s most famous letter.
Then during worship we will continue to talk about the biblical roots of the symbols that Christians of all kinds commonly use in worship. Last week for Pentecost we focused on the breath of God and the use of fiery candles to symbolize the Holy Spirit. This Sunday we will talk about water and the sacrament of baptism.
As a reminder there is a brief congregational meeting after the service to confirm Rene Gense as an elder for Session. Rene has graciously offered to serve as our new clerk.
The service will be a good preparation for the afternoon. Pastor Paul will be overseeing Shelby Barnum’s baptism at noon in the Whitefish River near the Community Center. Everyone from the congregation is invited and encouraged to come celebrate!
